THE TREATMENT

Understand
microneedling.

Microneedling uses fine needles to create controlled punctures in the skin. It is used in aesthetic care to address concerns such as skin texture and the appearance of scars.

Suitability depends on your skin, health history, and the specific device and protocol. Discuss expected discomfort, temporary redness, possible complications, recovery, and alternatives. Results vary; a treatment course is individual.

What to discuss at consultation

  • Your goals and current skin concerns
  • The device, products, and proposed technique
  • Medications, recent treatments, and relevant history
  • Recovery, aftercare, and realistic expectations

EXOSOMES
microneedling

Understand the science before the promise.

Exosomes are small particles released by cells that carry molecules involved in cell communication. They are being studied for potential applications in skin rejuvenation. This does not establish the safety or effectiveness of a particular aesthetic treatment.

Canadian public health guidance states that exosome products are not approved for sale or use in Canada, including with microneedling. This overview is educational. Exosome fees below are retained as Fee Guide references, rather than an invitation to book an unapproved treatment.

PDRN
& your skin

A separate ingredient. A separate conversation.

PDRN stands for polydeoxyribonucleotide: purified fragments of DNA, often derived from fish sources. It is different from exosomes.

Researchers are investigating PDRN and related polynucleotides for skin quality and tissue repair. Studies use different products and methods; benefits cannot be assumed for every facial or microneedling protocol.

Ask which product is used, its source and Canadian authorization, allergy considerations, and whether it is intended for the proposed application.
